More Design Work!

Thought I would post my last few weeks of design projects.
The one on the left is my grayscale gradation paint project.
The gradation design on the right was created out of different gray papers laying around the house (and yes, the papers are gray-the pink looking colors are warm grays) ....

The next design on the left is my spray paint gray gradations project . The second one down on the right is a lino block design that I made and cut out on a linoleum stamp and printed in different gradations.

The last two projects are the ones I have worked on for the past two weeks painting every single day....whew!!! My fingers are more nimble that's for sure! I have learned so much doing these two projects. The one on the left is my chromatic grayscale perspective design and the one on the right is my color wheel design. Notice the tertiary colors (intermediate colors between the primary and secondary colors) look transparent!

Harry the Octopus #3

Okay, I realize that some of you kids are worried about Jolene.....Hi Maile and Ivy.......so here's the next installment (mind you, this is a short story as it is a school project...hopefully I can do a longer one this summer.) By the way, I am painting TONS to finish up my chromatic grayscale perspective......I finished the color wheel so I will post that this weekend. I feel like I am going crosseyes trying to figure out all the grays....Jen has been painting her swatches all week....and poor Dad just comes home and heads to the work room in the back since the entire family area is covered with paint projects. Even though this has been a lot of work this semester I am grateful for what I've learned. Who knew there could be so many colors of gray? Well, here's Harry......

Harry the Octopus Saves the Day

Here is my attempt to put the beginning of this book project on the blog! This is a paint project in my digital imaging class. I took some ideas that Christy had given us for a puppet show and decided to write a story and used it to do my 4 illustrations. It's only taken me 4 weeks to finish most of it. The first illustrations are small (down below) because I've already posted one of them, but I'll make the next post larger. The storyboards are on the right. More to come!!

Jen's Birthday

Not everyday you turn double digits! Happy Birthday Jen!!!
And Happy Birthday to you too BRYAN!!!!!
Wish you were here.
We would party, party, party!!!

Grandma Day!

I had a great time with the girls this week although it was sad that Jeannie was sick. I actually got to keep Ivy for a day.......4 little girls......I had lots of help from Jen too. Here are some pictures from our activities that day. We did sidewalk drawing, watered flowers, watched movies, picked flowers (weeds!! hehehehe) and played hopscotch. I love seeing how well the girls get along with each other. What a great group of cousins they are!

Trying to Keep Up

Can't believe April is half over and I still have 7 art projects to go. Thought I'd post a picture of my table at home.....covered with stuff for my color wheel project. I have over 150 swatches of various colors painted that I mixed from the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue!

We've also spent the week battling fleas, as if I am not stressed out enough! I am spraying for fleas everywhere. Cat, yard, house, redo house, vacumn floor, redo house....poor kitty has been scratching nonstop for 3 or 4 days......those mean old blood-sucking varmits!

Everytime Jen sees a flea she wants me to respray. JEN, stop looking for fleas!!!
Really, I haven't seen a flea for 2 or 3 days so I've actually decided to wait a week to see if I need to spray one more time....but in the meantime, I'm dealing with sympathetic itching, and I mean the strong mind over matter the minute I walk in the house I'm scratching kind of itching. No bites on me anywhere, though....hmmmmm....?!

Just as a sidenote here....I called Dad to report on our flea progress and he tells me that we'll need to flea bomb the heck out of the house before we leave for Bountiful...hmmmm...I'm calling my pest control guy....no more spraying for me....I'M DONE!!!!!!

Harry the Octopus

I have started a new project in my digital imaging class. I will probably put the whole thing on the blog once I get it done....I took some of the ideas that Christine had for a story and created a storyboard we could use for a book, animated sequence, or a puppet show. In this illustration (which I am doing in photoshop) Harry is mopping in the background and humming to himself. Jolene Jelly is practing a song with the Jellie Babies and Shelly Starfish tells her they need to break to rest up for the night show....more story to come as the illustrations unfold!

Yeah Jen!

Well, it is official. Jen just passed her Aikido promotion test tonight and is a YELLOW BELT! Whoooohoooooooooooo! I'm sure you big brothers are thrilled that she can handle those boys!!!!

The Grandgirls Birthday Smash!

Last night we had an awesome party celebrating Reagan and Jocelyn's birthdays together. Of course, this was all planned by the party MOM....Jeannie of course! First we ate with the family and friend crowd at Chick-fil-A's at the mall........ate a very icing birthday cake/cupcake and opened presents. THEN....me and the kids did a human chain to Build-A-Bear where the everyone got to pick out an animal, name it, make promises, wash, and then dress them. I think by the time we were done, everyone was happy and ready for home! Check out these cool pictures!
Here are the birthday girls blowing out their candles.

Can you tell the kids from the animals?

"Gardening the Plants!"

Yep....that's what Jocelyn wanted to do today, garden the plants...so we went outside with Evy and Reagan in tow and planted the petunias and assylium in the yard. Aren't we all so cute?

Another Awesome Design From Jen... Finally!!!

Well anyway I decided that its been awhile since I posted a picture, so I decided to post one I had a lot of fun making. I call it Blue Dimension!!! For me this piece helped me create a tangible picture of what it feels like to meditate, and think about the many shades of blue that are me.
